DESCRIPTION
In the southern region of the United
States is the state of Alabama, the 30th US state in terms
of land area and the 23rd in terms of population with around
4.6 million people living here. Alabama borders with Tennessee, Georgia,
Florida and Mississippi and has a Gulf of Mexico coast. It has several
nicknames including the Yellowhammer State, and The Heart of Dixie. Alabama is a location best known for
its southern hospitality and offers travelers a variety of attractions.
There are many historic sites of interest such as the State Capitol
Building in the capital city, Montgomery, and the Civil Rights Monument.
Other destinations include the state’s largest city, Birmingham, where
popular attractions include the Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark.
Tourists are also drawn to the scenic Mountain Region of Alabama which
includes parts of the Appalachian Mountains. The humid subtropical climate
of Alabama means travelers can enjoy long hot and humid summers and
mild winters, making this a location good for visiting all year round.
