DESCRIPTION

Canada is the second largest country in the world (1st largest being Russia), having the longest land border in the world- USA. Canada is one of the world’s wealthiest countries and is renown worldwide for it’s vast undeveloped landscape and it’s one of a kind culture. With Canada being over 9.9 million sq km, it’s not exactly suggested to tour the whole country all in one trip. Canada is divided into 10 provinces and 3 territories. The difference of the two is where they get their authority from. In the provinces, the authority and power is received directly from the Crown via the Constitution Act, 1867, and in the territories the mandates are derived from the federal government. The 10 provinces are Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. The three territories are the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon. The capital city of Canada is Ottawa. As of July 2007 the population in Canada was recorded at over 33.3 million people. With Canada’s enormous size the temperatures and climate vary tremendously depending on where one is; however, many cities get warm in the summer and there are certainly quite a few places that get cold during the winter months. Canada is home of several world-renowned festivals and in 2010 will be home to the winter Olympics due to it’s many wonderful ski resorts. The currency used as money in Canada is the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Canada is filled with places to visit, everywhere from gorgeous Banff, to Niagara Falls, to Quebec, to Ontario, and even the national parks. The national language is English, while French is spoken by most.
