DESCRIPTION
Croatia is located in Southern Europe, also known as Mediterranean Europe to people on the East side of the Adriatic Sea and East of Italy. The best way to see the coastal islands and networks of small archipelagos is to go sailing off one of the many charters that leave from Split. Croatia was the first country in Europe to start with the concept of commercial naturalist resorts. Fifteen percent of all tourists that visit Croatia are naturalists or nudists. This amounts to more than 1 million per year. The Naturalist's beaches are marked “FKK” and there are quite a few of them, so beware, or you might catch someone with their pants down! : ) With this many naturalists, Croatia is home to more than 20 official naturists resorts. As of July 2007 Croatia had a total population of 4.5 million residents. Croatia's major cities include: Dubrovnik, Split, Pula, Osijek, Rijeka, Zadar, and Zagreb, which are the country’s capital. The climate in Croatia varies from around -2c in January and 19-23c in August, inland; and at seaside the temperatures are a little higher in January, at 6-11c and 21-27c in August.
