DESCRIPTION

Whether it’s because it’s capital Budapest is regarded as one of the most beautiful places in the world, or because it holds numerous top ranked world heritage sites, Hungary is one of the top 15 most popular tourist destinations traveled in the world. Even though a small country, Hungary holds some of the largest entities in the world. To name a few, Hungary has the 2nd largest thermal lake in the world-Lake Heviz, the largest lake in Central Europe-Lake Balaton, the largest natural grassland in Europe-Hortobagy, the largest synagogue in Europe known as The Great Synagogue, the largest medical bath in Europe, and the third largest church in Europe-Esztergom Basilica. Hungary is known as a very safe place with no terrorists and very little drug use. Some of the most popular cities in Hungary are Debrecen, Eger, Esztergom, Kecskemet, Miskoic, Nyireghaza, Pecs, Szeged, and Szekesfehervar. Members of both the E.U. and Schengen, Hungary currently uses the Forint (HUF), the Hungarian Cent is Filler, and the Euro as its currency. A must see while in Hungary is Tokaj, which is the great wine region. Hungarian is the national language, but recently English has become mandatory in schools, so younger natives know English, while few of the elders do. Located in Central Europe, the climate in Hungary varies from around 20c-39c and has very little rain during the summer months. The population recorded in July 2006 was around 10 million.
