India is a country situated in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country in the world in terms of its land size, but has the second largest population at over 1.1 billion people. Since the country was originally part of the United Kingdom English remains one of the official languages along with Hindi, and the Indian Rupee is the currency. Being such a large country there are many popular attractions throughout India. The Taj Mahal is always one of the most visited sites by travelers. This spectacular ‘Crown Palace’ is located in Agra along with another of the country’s most popular destinations, Agra Fort. There are many cities in India including the capital, New Delhi, and the largest city, Mumbai. Delhi is one of the most visited cities and one of the oldest cities in the world. Top attractions here include the Red Fort, Qutub Complex and Humayun’s Tomb. India also has some fantastic and scenic beach destinations too, such as Goa, which presents as far more relaxing than the country’s congested cities. The size and location of India means there is a variable climate here, affected by two monsoons between June and September, and October and February.
