DESCRIPTION
Rennes, France houses a large student population that keeps this old city young. They are the reason that the Rue Saint Michel is known as “La Rue de la Soif,” which in French means the “street of thirst.” That’s because it’s lined on both sides with hardly anything but bars, and on Thursday nights, the students flock to the area and fill all the seats. For tourists who are looking for a little more than nightlife, the city has a historical quarter. While Rennes was nearly destroyed in 1720 due to a fire, the 18th century area of Les Lices survived. You’ll find several art museums to browse here, along with the city’s St. Peter’s Cathedral.
