DESCRIPTION
Beethoven had a lot of animosity toward his hometown, but Bonn, Germany has embraced its first son and boasts of its musical heritage to anyone who visits the city. His birthplace has been turned into a museum and highlights his life’s work. The city does have another claim to fame, and that is the fact that it was the seat of the German government until that honor was moved to Berlin. There are a lot of government buildings that remain, including the Bundeshaus, where the German parliament was once located, and the German Chancellor’s secondary headquarters of Palais Schaumburg. One of the best art collections on the Rhine River can be found in Bonn as well at the Kunstmusum.
