DESCRIPTION
Vilnius is Lithuania’s capital city, featuring a mix of cultures and architectural styles to charm tourists to visit. The Old Town was the Jewish quarter until the Holocaust, and features a Jewish History Museum. The city’s landmark attraction is the Gediminas Castle, named for Vilnius’s founder. The castle has a tower that provides views over the city, and you can reach it by either climbing, or taking the easy ride up on the funicular. There’s also a square named after the Grand Duke, and Gediminas Square is where you’ll find the cathedral and the Hill of the Three Crosses, erected for Franciscan martyrs. The ornate interior of St. Peter and Paul’s Church draws visitors just outside the city limits for a nice side-trip.
