Ontario, the 2nd largest and most populous province in Canada is also home of Ottawa, which is Canada’s capital city. A few of the most popular cities in Ontario are Burlington, Hamilton, Kingston, Ottawa, Niagra Falls, Windsor, Barrie, and Toronto, which is Canada’s largest city and capital of Ontario. Also located in Ontario is Wasaga Beach, the world’s longest freshwater beach (14km or 8.5m). Both English and French are spoken throughout Ontario fluently. In Ontario, there are countless things to do, many of which are outdoor activities such as hiking the Sleeping Giant, which is a series of mesas which look just like a human figure, near thunder Bay, hiking the Bruce Trail, the Mississauga, visit one of the great freshwater beaches at Wasaga Beach, Sauble Beach or Grand Bend in Southwestern Ontario, or the many beaches at various Ontario parks such as Sandbanks, Lake Superior, Awenda, Charleston Lake and the Pinery. Camping and canoeing is also very popular in Ontario at places such as Algonquin Park, Quetico, and Bruce Peninsula National Park. Ontario’s drinking age is 18 and is home to over a dozen beer breweries. Ontario is also home of the Niagara region, which is Ontario’s wine-production region, although many people believe that Ontario wines are not considered to be high quality. Although it is still illegal in Ontario, marijuana is decriminalized and is much less of a legal risk compared to the rest of the world, but it still advised to not smoke weed in public. Niagra Falls is located in Ontario, half of which is on the US border and the other half on Canada’s and is the largest waterfall in the world. There are great casinos within walking distance, the most popular being Hara’s.
