DESCRIPTION
With its location in the Rocky Mountain
region of the United States, the state of Colorado is the 8th
largest state in the country, and has the 22nd largest population
at around 5 million people. This is a very elevated state as it’s
the only one in the USA to be entirely above 1,000 meters (3,281 feet)
plus many of the country’s highest peaks can be found here. Travelers will find that Colorado has
much to offer. The state is most popular for its scenic destinations
where outdoor pursuits are abound – hiking, boating, fishing, mountain
climbing, mountain biking and of course skiing are some of the best
and most fun attractions here. Two of the USA’s finest and most famous
ski resorts – Aspen and Vail are in Colorado. The Rocky Mountains
carve their way through the state and offer tourists the Rocky Mountain
National Park, plus one of Colorado’s most visited destinations, Pikes
Peak. Other national parks include Mesa Verde National Park with its
ancient cliff dwellings, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
and Great Sand Dunes National Park. The climate of Colorado varies across
the state, but generally expect snow in the winter and warm temperatures
in the summer.
