Maryland is a state in the Mid Atlantic
region of the USA which borders with Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia
and the Atlantic Ocean. It’s only a small state but has the nickname
‘America in Miniature’ because it offers travelers so much variety
in terms of its landscapes. Despite the small land area Maryland has
the 19th highest population in the USA at over 5.6 million
people. Most popular among the destinations
in Maryland is the largest city in the state, Baltimore. Tourists will
find many attractions here, most of which are centered around the Inner
Harbor. Annapolis is the state’s capital city and it features many
historic attractions such as the oldest state capitol building in the
country which is still in use, and which also served as the capitol
of the United States for a short period in 1783 to 1784. Maryland has
scenic destinations too – Chesapeake Bay is the world’s third largest
estuary where travelers will find quaint towns, sailing, great beaches
and more. Other outdoor attractions include Catoctin Mountain Park,
Deep Creek Lake and Great Falls on the Potomac River. With the state’s
Atlantic location tourists will find a generally humid subtropical,
giving mild to cool winters and humid and warm summers.
