The Western US state of Nevada is the 7th largest state in the USA. Despite its size the state is only ranked 35th in terms of population with a little over 2.6 million people here. Nevada is well known for its scenic desert landscapes and has borders with California, Utah, Arizona, Oregon and Idaho. The most visited destination in Nevada is the largest city, Las Vegas. Famous for its popular casinos and lavish casino resorts Las Vegas is great fun attraction! The city is popular even with travelers who are not interested in gambling as it enjoys good weather, shopping, entertainment and more. Another of the state’s most visited attractions is the Hoover Dam. This spectacular piece of engineering is not far from Vegas and was built in 1935. Vegas is the most popular city attraction but Reno is quickly becoming known for its bright lights and casinos too. The capital is Carson City which features more typical museum attractions and the State Capitol Building. The state also features scenic desert landscapes and destinations like Lake Mead Recreation Area. Known by tourists for being a hot state, summers here can be very hot. Winters are generally short and mild, though there are sometimes cold snaps and snow fall.
