DESCRIPTION

The Great Plains state of Oklahoma is situated in the Southern and South Central Regions of the USA. It is the 20th largest state and has the 28th largest population at around 3.6 million people, and borders with the neighboring states of Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. Oklahoma offers travelers a variety of attractions, from its capital city to scenic mountains, forests and grasslands. With 50 state parks, tourists who enjoy the great outdoors will find there’s plenty of it here. Scenic destinations such as the Ouachita National Forest are popular attractions, where you can experience horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking in the Ouachita Mountains, and on the Ouachita National Recreation Trail. Camping, scenic sightseeing, boating and more are some of the other attractions on offer. For travelers who prefer big city life, try the capital and largest city. Among the most visited attractions here is the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum, dedicated to the victims of the bombing of 1995. Other attractions include the Myriad Botanical Gardens, the State Capitol Building and the Zoological Park. With its location in Tornado Alley, tornadoes can strike any time of the year though are most common in spring. Summers are hot and winters can be cool.
