DESCRIPTION
Chili is a long, narrow country, situated along the southern half of the west coast of South America. The bordering countries are Bolivia, Peru, and Argentina. Major cities in Chile are: Punta Arenas, Puerto Montt, Coquimbo, Chaiten, Curico, Arica, and Santiago, which is the capital. As of July 2006 the population was recorded at just over 16 million people. Chile has an enormous amount of national parks, a few ski resorts, and several islands; which are all terrific in each of their own unique ways. Chile’s currency is the Chilean Peso and the national language is Spanish. An abundant amount of amazing wine is produced in Chile, much of which, compete with the wine from California, Australia and New Zealand for world markets. Some of Chile’s best wines are the Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere in red, along with fantastic whites from the Casablanca valley.
