Visitors to the beachside resort towns along the French Cote D’Azur can follow the sweet smell to Grasse, France – the perfume capital of the world. Its location just 11 miles north of Cannes makes it a great day-trip destination from the French Riviera. All of the ingredients that go into the perfume surround the town – lavender, jasmine, roses and more. One of the attractions in the area is a tour of a perfumery, and the most popular and most visited is Fragonard. It’s in the center of town, and the tour is free of charge, though there is an opportunity at the end of the introduction into perfume making to sample Fragonard’s 35 scents and purchase the one you like.
