Jamaica is known for its spring-break crowds and party attitude, but if you’d like to experience the island in a more serene environment, consider visiting Negril. The city’s location is on the western edge of the island, and is about an hour’s drive from Montego Bay’s airport. Most of the activities here center around the beachfront resort properties – most are all-inclusive and is self-sustaining, so you really never have to leave your hotel. If you’re looking for active nightlife, Negril isn’t a swinging hot spot, but each resort has its share of poolside activities, contests, shows and lots of food options. If you do want to venture into the countryside and experience the true Jamaica, you can hail a cab to take you shopping or to another restaurant, and the taxis will arrange to pick you up at your desired time.
