DESCRIPTION

Salamanca, Spain has buildings created from stone that glows in the sun’s rays, earning it the nickname of the “Golden City.” The university here was one of the world’s first, established by León’s Alfonso X, and tourists can try to spot the frog on the façade for good luck. There are two cathedrals for visitors to explore in Salamanca, and they are located right next to each other. The Old Cathedral is Romanesque in nature, and the New Cathedral stands in all its Gothic glory. The most unique city building attractions is the Casa de las Conchas, which is covered in sea shells. If you’re looking to try a tapas restaurant, head to the Plaza Mayor, where you’ll also find some nice shopping opportunities.
