DESCRIPTION
The Rhine River supplies the life’s blood for Düsseldorf, Germany, and
the city seems to float on its waters. Tourists can get a good overview
of what the city is all about by either walking along the promenade
beside the water or taking a cruise down the river. This way, you can
get a look at both banks and see what you want to explore first. Most
visitors start with a walk up the Rhine Tower to get some views over
the city and to help get their bearings. For night time festivities,
partygoers head to the Altstadt, or the Old Quarter, also known as the
“longest bar in the world” because of the number of establishment that
line the streets. While you’re there, try the local beer, the “Alt” or
Altbier. Fashionistas will also enjoy the shopping that’s available.
