DESCRIPTION

Nantes, France is strategically located at the base of the Loire River, and it’s claim to fame is like something out of a science fiction novel – one written by its first son, Jules Verne. In the past, it was part of Brittany, and while not tied officially anymore, culturally the two are linked, still. One of the main tourist attractions in Nantes is the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, and the stained-glass windows at the nearby Cathedral St. Pierre St. Paul and its Gothic façade are also worthwhile. The Musée des Beaux-Arts has a great art collection, and is one of only many museums to browse while in the city.
