Pronounced Ar-kan-saw, this state has
a southern location in the USA and is the 29th largest state
with the 32nd largest population, at around 2.8 million people.
The state is bordered by six others, including Louisiana, Mississippi
and Oklahoma. Arkansas is nicknamed ‘The Natural
State’ and there are certainly plenty of natural attractions here.
Popular scenic destinations include the Ozarks in the north west of
the state where travelers will find the state’s highest peak, Mount
Magazine. Also in the Ozarks is scenic Buffalo National River which
has both scenery and history to offer tourists. One of the most visited
destinations in Arkansas is Hot Springs National Park. Travelers can
enjoy the relaxing hot springs and historic bathhouses! Popular cities
include the capital and largest city, Little Rock where attractions
include museums and historic residential neighborhoods. Arkansas has
a humid subtropical climate which gives the state long, hot and humid
summers. Winters are mild and fall is a good time to visit for the ‘fall
colors’.
