If Spaghetti Bolognese (spaghetti with meat sauce) is on your list of favorite meals, then the city that created the dish should be on your list of travel destinations. Bologna, Italy has earned the nickname “Bologna the Fat” because of the gluttony that goes on in the city. You can eat your way through this culinary capital of Italy, and then work off all the calories and fat by walking up the Torre degli Asinelli, one of two leaning towers located in the Piazza di Porta. There are just under 500 steps to the top, and great views wait for you there. From that vantage point, you’ll notice Bologna’s traditional red roofs, as it’s also called “Bologna the Red.” There are a large number of museums here – enough to keep you busy for week, but don’t worry, you can buy a week-long pass to see them all.
