More North American skiers visit Innsbruck, Austria than any other ski destination in Europe, and it’s not hard to see why. Possibly one of the greatest locations for skiing in the world, it was host to two Olympic winter games and boasts several resorts. Not only will expert skiers find the slopes on St. Anton to be challenging, with great snow, the super-adventurous can try their hand (or feet) at heli-skiing. The most well-known resort is Kitzbühel, and it’s the fanciest as well. For the snow-plowers among us, novice skiers can find slopes and schools as well. Or if you just want to skip the skiing, try a walk through the historic Innsbruck Old Town, where the famous Golden Roof Memorial is located, built on behalf of Maximilian I, who is also entombed at the Hofkirche.
